About 21 to 22 inches
A duffel is the room bag. About 21 to 22 inches, often packable into a square for a hotel closet. Clothes, shoes, the family-size sunscreen that should not ride through TSA as a carry-on. It is the MCO overnight and the hop when a stay splits: park days first, then the coast. It is not the bag you walk to a screened gate.
Why it stays in the room
Walt Disney World keeps bags larger than 24 by 15 by 18 inches out of theme parks and water parks. A stuffed weekender fails that envelope even when a tote would have passed. It looks like luggage. It occupies a shoulder that already has clothes in it. A bottle rolls in the clothes well unless you add a cube you will resent by the second mile.
Universal Orlando thrill rides want lockers. A duffel on that path is a paid locker and a slower morning. Leave it in Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista, or the I-Drive closet. Take the canvas shopper or the clear tote to the gate.
MCO and TSA
TSA’s liquids rule limits carry-on liquids to 3.4 ounces or less in one quart-sized bag. A duffel you check can take the family-size tube. A duffel you carry cannot. A tote as a personal item still lives with that rule if sunscreen rides through MCO. Name the hop when you write us: MCO to hotel, hotel to the next hotel, park week then the coast.
A packable duffel that folds into a square earns its keep in a small closet. Ride it to MCO on the last morning. Do not leave it in a parked car in July. Central Florida will finish anything you leave in the glass. Read the travel guide for that heat.
